We are The Looking Glass Girls…

AKA Bridgette and Emily, a mother and daughter hair and makeup duo based in West Devon who live and breathe bridal beauty.

People often comment on how lovely it is that we work together, usually followed by a joke about how they could never work with their own mum, which tends to make us laugh. Hair and makeup has always been part of our world. Bridgette has been styling for over 35 years, and Emily grew up surrounded by wedding mornings and creative chaos, assisting on jobs from a young age, from pageants to photoshoots and events.

In 2019, after Emily moved back to Tavistock, Devon, we officially joined forces as The Looking Glass Girls. While we often work solo, nothing beats teaming up for weddings. Working side by side brings a calm, supportive, family focused energy that helps us fit seamlessly into any bridal morning.

We are creative, empathetic, and deeply people focused. With years of experience between us, we know how to read a room and create a relaxed, feel good space. Expect laughter, a few sing along moments to your playlist, and a friendly presence that helps you and your bridal party feel confident and ready to enjoy the day.

Meet Bridgette

Bridgette has always known she wanted to be a hairdresser and pursued her dream straight out of school at 17. Over the past 35 years, she has trained across England and worked in a variety of salons, building a career rooted in care, creativity, and connection. While she loves all aspects of hair and makeup, weddings and special occasions hold a particularly special place in her heart.

Working closely with people on such important days has shaped Bridgette’s approach to beauty. She has always believed that empowering others starts with truly understanding them, and reading the room comes as second nature. As she has matured and navigated menopause herself, her passion for championing women of all ages and backgrounds has only grown stronger.

Outside of weddings, Bridgette loves a good nap, watches far too many celebrity documentaries, will absolutely compliment your shoes if they sparkle, and is rarely happier than when she is knee deep in a crafty project.

Meet Emily

Emily has been surrounded by hair and makeup her entire life and began assisting on weddings and events from a young age. She later studied Illustration in London, where her creativity grew, before returning home to pursue makeup artistry full time.

Although Emily worked weddings alongside Bridgette for many years, she never fully saw herself reflected in an industry shaped by heavy glam and unrealistic beauty standards. By embracing natural, ethereal, and editorial makeup, she recognised the need for a more expressive, feeling led approach to bridal beauty. For Emily, hair and makeup is about connection, self acceptance, and allowing beauty to become play. Helping people feel confident, seen, and truly special.

Outside of weddings, Emily moonlights as an artist, always has a fantasy book on the go, and will never say no to a little glitter eyeshadow. She is also a secret heavy metal lover, proving that soft, magical makeup and core kid energy can happily coexist.
